News Alert: Deadline for comments on revised IEC 60969 approaching

Posted on 1 January 2014 2014-01-01T00:00:00+00:00 2015-02-12T00:00:00+00:00

To avoid possible delays in publication of the second edition of IEC 60969 should the CDV be voted positive, comments on the CDV should be submitted to the project team convenor, Owen Manley, as soon as possible.

The Committee Draft for Vote (CDV) of IEC 60969 Ed 2, Self-ballasted compact fluorescent lamps for general lighting services - Performance requirements (34/1701/CDV) was published on 1 November 2013 and is scheduled to close on 7 February 2014.

However, as the closing date for voting is approximately one week after the IEC project team meetings being held in Berlin in January 2014, this could lead to a six month delay in publication of the standard should it be voted positive.

To address this, the project team convenor, , is hosting a special project team meeting on 31 January 2014 in Berlin to evaluate any comments that have been submitted in anticipation that the CDV would be voted positive.

IEC members intending to make comments on 34/1701/CDV, should provide comments to  as soon as possible (ideally by Friday 3 January 2014) for evaluation by the project team in Berlin. Please note that even if you forward comments to Owen Manley directly, each national committee will still need to register its vote and provide the same comments to the IEC central office by 7 February 2014.

Further information on the rationale for this approach is available in the ninth lites.asia newsletter and more details on the CDV can be found in the lites.asia news alert on the subject.
