The IEC have just issued the revised CFL testing and performance requirements standard (IEC 60969 Ed.2, Self-ballasted compact fluorescent lamps for general lighting services - Performance requirements) as a Committee Draft for Vote (CDV). Countries that are members of TC34 are encouraged to review the CDV and, if in agreement with the revisions, to contact their National Committee to request a favourable vote.

The IEC have just issued the revised CFL testing and performance requirements standard (IEC 60969 Ed.2, Self-ballasted compact fluorescent lamps for general lighting services - Performance requirements) as a Committee Draft for Vote (CDV).  lites.asia members have been working with the IEC Lighting Committee TC34 and others since 2006 to try and ensure the standard is as useful for members as possible.

The revised standard contains some important changes, for example a proposed revision to the specification of compliance with declared lamp lifetime.  As many regional standards bodies and regulators may in future wish to harmonise their local requirements to be in line with the new IEC 60969 methodology, countries that are members of TC34 are encouraged to review the CDV and, if in agreement with the revisions, to contact their National Committee to request a favourable vote.

The CDV can be downloaded from the IEC website by clicking here (for those members with an IEC user name and password).  Alternatively, members should approach their National Committee or TC34 representative for a copy of the document.

The official reference for the vote is 34A/1701/CDV of IEC 60969 Ed. 2, Self-ballasted compact fluorescent lamps for general lighting services - Performance requirements.  Voting closes on 7 February 2014 and it is subject to the normal IEC voting procedure, requiring a simple majority of members to vote in favour of it in order for it to be adopted.
