Details of several impending deadlines of relevance to lites.asia members - comments to IEC on CFL performance tiers, participating in LED testing and webinar on compliance

Closing date 1 February 2013: Last chance to comment to IEC TC34 on proposals for CFL performance tiers

The IEC is currently considering a proposal to develop a technical specification that would set out a series of CFL performance tiers to give guidance on issues such as product lifetimes, efficacy levels, etc (Proposal for a Technical Specification, TS XXXXXX - Self-ballasted compact fluorescent lamps for general lighting services – performance limits (34A/1639/DC). lites.asia members who wish to comment on the proposals must do so via their National Committees no later than 1 February, 2013. Please note that it is not guaranteed that this proposal will go forward - positive comments from countries that support the concept of IEC CFLi performance tiers will be helpful in demonstrating the support for this proposal to TC34.

Note: All IEC members and associate members may submit comments not just voting members.  It should also be noted that where countries are supportive of the proposal but don’t have specific comments it is perfectly acceptable to simply provide supporting commenting comments (e.g. “The XXXX National Committee Supports this proposal”)

Closing date 31 January 2013: Opportunity for test laboratories to apply for the last places in IEA 4E SSL Annex 2013 Interlaboratory Comparison of SSL (LED) product testing

The closing date for applications for laboratories to participate in the IEA 4E SSL Annex 2013 Interlaboratory Comparison of SSL (LED) product testing is 31 January 2013.  This is an excellent  opportunity for laboratories wishing to improve their LED test capacity.  Spaces are still available for additional laboratories to join the comparison testing programme and lites.asia members are encouraged to take advantage of this valuable opportunity for laboratories to improve their SSL testing capabilities.
